Dr Josh Newmark is a Consultant Chemical Pathologist who provides clinical liaison to laboratory users at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
His clinical interests include disorders of lipid metabolism, cardiovascular risk prevention and management, and parenteral nutrition. Routine clinical duties include specialty outpatient clinics, multidisciplinary consultant-led ward rounds, and undergraduate and postgraduate medical training. Josh is actively engaged with colleagues in advocating for the development of clinical laboratory services across the South 7 Pathology Network.
Dr Newmark has regular outpatient clinics at Worthing Hospital and St Richard’s Hospital. Those clinics receive referrals for genetic diagnosis and management of lipid disorders, including familial hypercholesterolaemia.
Josh is actively involved in quality assurance of medical education. He works part time with the General Medical Council as an associate to the Professional Linguistics and Assessment Board, and has previously worked with NHS Education for Scotland in the quality management of postgraduate medical training.
Dr Newmark graduated from the University of St Andrews in 2013, and competed his medical studies at the University of Edinburgh in 2016. He was awarded Dip RCPath (Clinical Biochemistry) in 2019, and was raised to fellowship in 2023. Josh is SCOPE certified.
