Biography
Dr Simon Hammans is an experienced Neurologist at St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester and the Wessex Neurological Centre, Southampton General Hospital.
Dr Hammans trained at the University of Cambridge, St Thomas’s Hospital and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
The comprehensive range of services provided by Dr Hammans includes outpatient general neurology as well as inpatient services. His practice includes common problems such as headaches, dizziness, seizures, Parkinson’s disease, tremor, and gait disorders. One clinic per month is given to Botulinum toxin injection for movement disorders.
He is Director of the Wessex Regional Muscle and Nerve Service and has a specialist interest in Neuromuscular disorders and Genetics.
Dr Hammans completed a research thesis with Professor Anita Harding at the Institute of Neurology concerning the Genetics of Muscle Disorders. He was awarded the Ralph Noble prize for his research.
He has published more than fifty peer reviewed research papers and has co-authored a book on Neurogenetics.
