University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (UHSussex) is holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday 27 July from 4.30-6.30pm.

This year’s hybrid meeting at St Richard’s Hospital Chichester Medical Education Centre will also be available to watch virtually.

The event is an opportunity to look back at the first full year since the Trust was created on 1 April 2021 through a merger of Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals (BSUH) and Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WSHT).

UHSussex Chair Alan McCarthy said: “Whilst we continue to face significant challenges in the NHS, we are excited to share a number of successes achieved over the past year and the positive impact the merger has created.

“We are still very much in the recovery period from the pandemic, so it is important to address the areas that continue to be impacted and share how we have invested in our hospitals and services to make improvements for our patients and staff.

“Through becoming a single organisation, we’ve embraced cross-site collaborative working across our hospitals to address demand for our services and long waiting lists.

“Over the last year, we have developed our new clinical operating model and recruited talented leaders to drive forward our commitment to improving care for patients across Sussex.

“And we’ve also invested in a number of services, including opening a new Urology Investigation Unit at Worthing and improvement projects to ensure the needs of people across Sussex are being met.”

The agenda includes a review of the Trust’s year from the recently appointed Chief Executive George Findlay, followed by a question and answer session.

There will be clinical professionals showcasing service improvements through a number of presentations. There will also be a presentation of the Annual Reports and Accounts.

The Council of Governors Meeting will run from 6-6.30pm. It includes a report from the Trust’s external auditors before the Council will be asked to accept the Annual Reports and Accounts.

Members of the public are also invited to the pre meeting service fair from 3pm, where there will be the opportunity to engage with service, volunteer, charity and membership stands.

Onsite parking will be available at the North Staff Car Park. The barrier will be lifted for entry and there will be signs directing visitors to St Richard’s Hospital Chichester Medical Education Centre.

The Trust encourages attendees to take a Covid lateral flow test before attending and to not attend if they feel unwell or are displaying Covid symptoms.
