UHSussex is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Andy Heeps as the organisation’s new managing director for West Sussex.
Andy joins us from North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust, where he is the interim chief executive.
Chief executive, Dame Marianne Griffiths, said “We’re delighted to welcome Andy to the trust. He has demonstrated tremendous passion for leading improvement projects throughout his career. In recent months, he’s been directly involved with developing and implementing our Patient First improvement approach at North Mid.”
Andy is an experienced consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist. Prior to working at North Mid, he was divisional director for the specialist medicine division at Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.
He has also held leading roles in clinical and operational areas such as associate medical director for Quality Improvement and as acting medical director.
Dr Andy Heeps said: “I am thrilled and excited to take on the role as Managing Director at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. After two and a half years at North Mid, and 26 years in London, it hasn’t been an easy decision to make, but I am very much looking forward to working alongside so many talented teams to deliver outstanding healthcare in Sussex.
“I am incredibly proud that North Mid has made a significant amount of progress over the last three years. The dedication and commitment to provide outstanding care to local people is remarkable, and I have no doubt that will continue after my departure.”
Earlier this year we announced the appointment of Kate Slemeck as the managing director for Brighton. Kate will join us from the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, where she is the chief executive.
Andy and Kate will join in September 2021.
