Intravenous (IV) therapy is the fastest way of getting medications and fluids into the body. It works by infusing them directly into a vein through an injection or drip.
How we help
Our IV therapy team make sure that every patient receiving this treatment gets the best possible care, using the most appropriate device in the right place at the right time, following the national standards for infusion therapy.
The team has two clinical nurse specialists and one intravenous therapy nurse.
The clinical nurse specialists provide clinical expertise and education and manage the day-to-day running of the service. The intravenous therapy nurse provides clinical support and expertise on our wards.
