On-site pay-and-display parking

Parking is limited. Please arrive in plenty of time so you do not miss your appointment.

The main hospital car park is accessed via a barrier. You will receive a ticket at the barrier on entry and should pay at the pay station before returning to your car. Once paid the ticket is used to open the exit barrier.

Lost tickets are charged at £20 per replacement.

Charges apply at all times of day and night.

Car park pay stations accept coins, notes and debit/ credit cards, give change and have an intercom if you need help. 

Blue badge holders can park for free in the designated disabled spaces, but normal charges apply in the main car parks. 

In the event of a patient being admitted to hospital for a period in excess of 14 days the next of kin or a nominated visitor will be offered reduced parking costs of a maximum rate of one hour charge/ visit for any further visits at St Richard’s Hospital. Please ask on the ward for more information.

Bicycle parking facilities are available outside the Accident & Emergency department to the west of the main entrance.

Motorcycles can also be parked free of charge outside A&E (opposite the ambulance bays), and next to the Jubilee Dental Centre (opposite the Day Surgery Unit). 

Electric vehicle charging points are not yet available.

Public Transport

By bus

St Richard’s Hospital is served by the number 55 bus service which runs between Chichester and Tangmere. The service is operated by Stagecoach South and stops for the hospital in Spitalfield Lane.

By train

St Richard’s Hospital is a 20-minute walk from Chichester railway station, or around 10 minutes by taxi or the number 55 bus.

Most services to and from Chichester are provided by Southern Railway and South West Trains. Fares, timetables and service updates are available from National Rail Enquiries.

Patient transport service

The patient transport service is available for patients who are unable (for medical reasons) to use public or private transport.

Spice of Life Restaurant

First floor of the main St Richard’s Hospital building, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner between 7.15 am – 7.30 pm Monday to Friday, and 8.30 am – 7.00 pm Saturday and Sunday.

Costa Coffee

In the main reception at St Richard’s open from 7.00 am – 8.00 pm Monday to Friday, and 8.00 am – 6.00 pm at weekends, selling hot and cold drinks, snacks, sandwiches and panini.

Amigo shop

Next to Costa Coffee in the main entrance at St Richard’s open from 7.00 am – 8.00 pm Monday to Friday, and 8.00 am – 6.00 pm at weekends.

League of Friends shop

In the hospital’s Outpatients entrance.
Monday to Friday 7am – 5pm and Saturday 9am – 4pm

Toilets and baby changing facilities

Public toilets are available throughout the hospital. Please see our hospital map for exact locations. Facilities for changing babies at St Richard’s Hospital can be found in main reception, Accident and Emergency, Outpatients and the Women and Children’s Unit.

Cash machine

Located in main reception, next to the Friends’ shop.

The St Richard’s Hospital chapel

Found on the main building’s ground floor and is open 24 hours a day for quiet reflection.
