Dr Joao Martins, MD PhD MRCP

Dr Joao Martins is a Consultant Cardiologist who specialises in treating heart conditions using advanced, minimally invasive techniques. He has particular expertise in heart valve and coronary artery disease and provides personalised care for a wide range of heart problems, including chest pain, breathlessness, heart rhythm disorders, and heart failure. His key areas of expertise include TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation), mitral and tricuspid valve repair, transcatheter valve replacement, PFO closure, and complex coronary interventions.

Dr Martins graduated with honours in Medicine from Porto University and completed doctoral research at Harvard Medical School and Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, USA. He trained in Internal Medicine and Cardiology in London, with advanced fellowships at King’s College Hospital, St George’s Hospital, and Oxford University Hospitals. He is dedicated to helping patients achieve the best possible outcomes through modern, minimally invasive treatments — particularly those who may not be suitable for traditional heart surgery.
