Dr Negar Maghsoodi is a Consultant Chemical Pathologist and Lipid Specialist at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, based at Worthing Hospital. She provides specialist consultant expertise in clinical biochemistry, including interpretation of complex biochemical results, advice on appropriate laboratory investigations, clinical liaison with healthcare professionals, and contribution to quality, governance and service development.
She also provides specialist assessment and management for people with lipid disorders and cardiovascular risk factors. Her clinical practice covers hypercholesterolaemia including familial hypercholesterolaemia, mixed lipid abnormalities, severe hypertriglyceridaemias and metabolic syndrome. Her practice includes the diagnosis and long-term management of lipid disorders as well as broader cardiometabolic risk.
Dr Maghsoodi completed higher specialist training in Chemical Pathology through the South East London rotation, with posts at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. She holds an MSc in Clinical Biochemistry from University College London and is a Visiting Senior Lecturer at Brighton and Sussex Medical School.
She has also participated in clinical research and clinical trials and has an interest in developing and supporting research within clinical practice with publications in peer-reviewed scientific and medical journals.
Dr Maghsoodi has held professional representative roles within the Royal College of Pathologists. She was the Clinical Biochemistry Representative for Kent, Surrey and Sussex from 2020 to 2023 and subsequently served as the regional representative for South England on the College Council. Her professional work includes teaching, academic activity and engagement with pathology and clinical medicine at local, national and international levels.
Dr Maghsoodi works within University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust and runs NHS lipid clinics at Dorking Healthcare Outpatient Department following GP referral. She also provides private consultations at Southlands Hospital in Worthing and at The London Welbeck Hospital in London.
