Professor Giles Critchley is a Consultant Neurosurgeon and Spinal Surgeon at University Hospitals Sussex in Brighton. He is an Honorary Clinical Professor at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. He qualified from Cambridge University and St Thomas’ Hospital, London with subsequent training in Manchester and at Atkinson Morley’s Hospital, Wimbledon.
His clinical and research interests are in NeuroOncology, Neurovascular Surgery, Complex Spinal Surgery and patient outcomes. He is a member of the multidisciplinary team meetings for these subspecialities.
He is an examiner for the FRCS(SN) exam and the international JSCFE FRCS exam. He was clinical lead for Neurosurgery from 2016-2020 and clinical lead for Spinal Surgery 2019-2021 and the lead for the Neuro-Oncology Multidisciplinary Meetings at UHSussex NHS Foundation Trust until 2023. He was Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Otago, New Zealand from 2023- 2024.
