Biography
Mr Ogho Obakponovwe is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon (lower limb arthroplasty).
He completed is undergraduate training at the University of Leicester Medical School in 2005. Ogho stayed in the Midlands for his foundation years after which he moved to Leeds (Yorkshire School of Surgery) in 2007 for his core surgical training. In 2009 he began his trauma research fellowship at the University of Leeds, under the supervision of Professor PV Giannoudis, achieving a postgraduate degree, Doctor of Medicine, in 2015.
Ogho’s speciality training in Trauma and Orthopaedics took place in London/Essex, North East Thames deanery with rotations based around the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel.
He joined Professor Middleton’s team at Royal Bournemouth and Poole Hospitals for his arthroplasty fellowship in 2019. In March 2020, during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, he served as acting consultant and trauma surgeon at Poole Hospital for six months to help deal with the increased pressure on our trauma services.
He joined the team at St Richard’s Hospital in December 2020 and hope to use my expertise to serve the local community.
