Request:

1. Currently since the 2020 financial year what percentage of your income comes from private patients?
2. As the law no longer has a cap on the number of private patients for Foundation Trusts do you implement your own internal cap?

Please note University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust has been in operation since 1 April 2021, following the merger of Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust and Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Information about the Trust’s hospitals can be found on our website.

Due to this, there are individual accounts for each legacy Trust for the financial year 2020/2021.

1. The Trust’s annual income and the income derived from private patients is published in the Trust’s annual reports.
   The accounts for 2020/2021 , including those for Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
   The accounts for the legacy Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust for 2020/2021.
   Private Patient income is available at note 3 in each set of accounts. Since this information is reasonably accessible via other means, section 21 exemption under the Act is applicable.
2. No; the Trust does not enforce its own internal cap.
