Every April since 1992, Stress Awareness Month has provided an important opportunity to increase public awareness about the causes, effects, and management of stress while encouraging healthier, more open conversations about mental wellbeing.
This is a vital campaign as stress is something nearly everyone experiences, yet so often we underestimate its impact. Stress Awareness Month helps us change that by raising awareness, reducing stigma, and promoting practical ways to improve resilience and wellbeing.
Take the opportunity this month for an open conversation on the impact of stress. Talk to friends, colleagues, family, and professionals about your experiences of stress and its effects.
Stress Awareness Month reminds us that managing stress isn’t a luxury, it’s essential for our long‑term health! By engaging with the campaign, learning more about stress, and making small daily changes, we can all take steps toward a more balanced and sustainable way of living and working.
Small daily actions can make a big difference such as:
- Taking short breaks
- Practising mindful breathing
- Moving your body
- Talking openly about stress
- Setting healthy boundaries
- Reaching out for support when you need it
