The Pulmonary Rehabilitation team at St Richard’s has recently achieved accreditation through the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Services Accreditation Scheme (PRSAS) run by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP). The team is now among an elite group. Only 21 accredited services exist in the UK, and St Richard’s is the only one in the South East.
Team leader Vicki Bulbeck said: “This has been a tireless process but a real validation of the quality service we know we provide and recognition of the team’s commitment to highest level patient centred care.
“I am beyond proud of our achievement and the hard work of the team in achieving this national recognition.”
The PRSAS accreditation process is a voluntary review. It requires services to meet high standards set by a group of clinicians, managers, and patient advocates. Accredited services show their commitment to best practices and patient care. They do this through self-assessment and a drive for quality improvement. For the Trust, this accreditation shows a commitment to gold-standard care. It ensures patients receive top-quality, effective treatment.
Accreditation requires proof of sustained quality, with a full on-site review every five years. The team at St Richard’s has worked tirelessly to meet these standards. For the staff, this recognition validates their hard work and teamwork. It shows their dedication to patient care.
For patients, an accredited service means high-quality, evidence-based care. It supports their respiratory health and improves their quality of life.
Achieving PRSAS accreditation sets a new benchmark in the Trust and is a testament to the team’s unwavering commitment to clinical excellence.
