Two dedicated radiographers, Wendy Holden and Caroline Green, have become amongst the first colleagues at the Trust to earn a prestigious postgraduate certificate in CT Head Reporting.
Wendy is a superintendent neuroradiographer at Royal Sussex County Hospital and Caroline, a senior radiographer at Princess Royal Hospital.
Wendy said: “After two years of hard work and perseverance, support from our imaging department and Health Education England we both achieved an exciting step forward in our career. However, this isn’t just a personal triumph, but a way to offer our patients an improved quality of care.”
By enhancing the department’s capabilities, Wendy and Caroline aim to improve the services to support patients in the coming years. Their newly acquired expertise will help ease the amount of reporting, allowing radiologists to focus on other scans, to improve report turnaround times for both clinicians and patients.
Wendy adds: “Though CT head reporting is complex and can be a longer pathway, we hope that radiographer reporting will ultimately enhance service delivery, quality, and patient outcomes by addressing backlogs, reducing waiting times, and minimising any treatment errors.”
Wendy and Caroline hope their achievement will inspire other radiographers to consider this pathway, contributing to both their personal development and the continued growth of experts within the Trust.
As one of the largest employers in Sussex, UHSussex provides a whole host of career opportunities and career pathways for existing and new staff.
The Trust invests in professional development to help staff achieve their career goals and continuously improve patient care. This achievement by Wendy and Caroline exemplifies the dedication and potential of UHSussex staff to drive forward excellence in healthcare.
