The Porter Team at Worthing Hospital have been awarded for the important role they played supporting the Emergency Department following last month’s ambulance strikes.
The team received UHSussex Star of the Month after being nominated by Nicole Chavaudra, Director of Patient Experience, and Jo Habben, Director of Patient Safety & Learning, for their ‘willingness, solution-focus and understated excellence’.
Nicole added: “The day after the ambulance strikes on Thursday 22 December 2022, patient demand in Worthing Emergency Department was unprecedented.
“With their help, we were able to source beds, air mattresses, pillows, linen, screens, and tables to create temporary space for patients to be treated.
“No complaints, just willingness, solution-focus and understated excellence – they are the heartbeat of the hospital system, and their work makes a huge difference to patient dignity, experience and care.”
Joe Green, Deputy Portering Manager at Worthing Hospital, said: “I am immensely proud of the team and everyone in it, everyone plays their part! To receive recognition of this nature means the world and they all deserve the praise, well done.”
