Following the successful launch of the InPost Parcel Locker at St Richard’s, we’re thrilled to announce that Worthing Hospital and Southlands Hospital have now joined the movement toward smarter, greener parcel delivery.
The new lockers are fully operational and ready for use, offering staff, patients, and visitors a 24/7 self-service solution for sending, collecting, and returning parcels—no queues, no labels, no hassle. Whether you’re picking up a birthday gift or returning an online order, the process is quick, secure, and stress-free.
Sustainability meets convenience
Just like at St Richard’s, these lockers bring more than just convenience. By consolidating deliveries and reducing unnecessary travel, InPost’s model helps cut down on CO₂ emissions — supporting the Trust’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
And there’s a financial benefit too: UHSussex earns an annual license fee for hosting the lockers, which is reinvested into staff services at each site.
A Staff-led vision expands
This expansion is part of a staff-led initiative championed by Tomasz Makola, Accommodation Manager at St Richard’s and Worthing, and staff governor for St Richard’s. Tomasz first proposed the idea during his level five operations/departmental manager apprenticeship, aiming to make everyday life a little easier for the hospital community.
“I’m proud to see the lockers now installed at Worthing and Southlands,” Tomasz said. “It’s rewarding to know that a simple idea can grow and benefit even more people across our hospitals. I hope this inspires others to pursue their own development projects — small changes can have a big impact.”
Where to find them
- Worthing Hospital: Located near the main entrance, adjacent to the staff car park.
- Southlands Hospital: Positioned by the outpatient entrance, close to the patient drop-off zone.
What’s next?
With three sites now equipped, the rollout continues. Plans are underway to install lockers at Royal Sussex County Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital in the coming months. Stay tuned for updates as we bring this innovative service to even more of our UHSussex community.
