In this article we wanted to give you a quick overview of some new design changes we have already published on iris.
Login Page Update
The old iris login page had two buttons. The goal was to facilitate two access methods: one for staff and one for non-staff.
Over time, we migrated staff to the non-staff access due to recurring issues with the single sign-on system we were employing. This resulted in far fewer problems with password resetting and gaining access.
Since all staff have moved onto the new system, we no longer have a need for two buttons. So for the new login page, we moved to a single login form that applies to all learners on the system.
At the same time, we saw it as an opportune moment to change the overall design to fit our Trust’s branding. You will also notice that some of the colours of the general iris interface have also been updated to match our organisation’s branding.
My Learning Dashboard
The My Learning dashboard has been a staple page on iris. Its main purpose is to act as a one-stop location for all learners to check which courses and certifications they have been assigned and on which they have enrolled.
For this new version, we wanted to make your training clearer and easier to understand. You will notice there are radials labeled STAM, Role and Courses.
STAM is where you will find all the training that is assigned to you based on the requirements of the Core Skills Training Framework.
If you have the Role radial, that means you also have certain mandatory courses you need to complete based on your role and/or area of work.
Finally, the Courses radial has all of your one-off courses that are not attached to a certification. You will have either manually enrolled yourself on them or you will have been assigned.
You can click on any of these radials to narrow down the course list below.
The icon in the box is an indicator of how many bookings you have in the system. Clicking on the icon will take you to the list of bookings which also have links to where you can manage each booking.
We are already aware that there is a need for learners to unenroll from courses they no longer wish to take (does not pertain to STAM and Role). We are currently working on a solution and hope to have something out later in the year. In the meantime, we at the TEL team hope you like the new designs. We have plenty more in store for the future, including updates to the My Team tab.
