Pamela Coleman, a much-loved Rota Coordinator for the Urology service at Princess Royal Hospital, was honoured with a heartfelt farewell, celebrating the end of her extraordinary 51-year career.
Since she embarked on her career many years ago, she has held various administrative roles at the Royal Sussex County Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital.
In 2019, she relocated with the urology team from Sussex House to PRH, playing a pivotal role in helping the team establish themselves at their new location. Her efforts have been crucial in ensuring the service runs seamlessly, working closely with consultants and junior doctors to maintain sufficient clinical cover.
Her retirement celebration was marked by a surprise party organised by the Urology Administration and Nursing Team, where PRH Hospital Director Chris Ashcroft delivered a heartfelt speech, expressing gratitude for Pamela’s extensive service and commitment to the Trust.
Verity Narcisi, Urology Operations Manager, said: “It was clear to see from Pam’s retirement celebration how well respected and appreciated she is not only by the Urology Service but also wider teams within the Trust. Pam’s long service, hard work, and commitment epitomise the true nature of the NHS, and we have been extremely lucky to have Pam as part of our team. We would like to thank her for her remarkable service and wish her a well-deserved retirement.”
In a move that highlights her unwavering commitment, Pamela will not be stepping away entirely. She plans to return to UHSussex as an outpatient’s booking clerk for two days a week, continuing to serve the community she holds dear.
