The scam appears to involve individuals falsely claiming to work in Human Resources (HR) and offering healthcare professionals job opportunities at “Sussex Hospital”, which is not a legitimate organisation. As part of the scam, candidates are asked to make payments for document verification, visa processing, or other administrative requirements.
If you receive an unsolicited job offer or recruitment communication from an individual or agency claiming to be affiliated with University Hospitals Sussex, please be aware that this is likely to be a scam.
University Hospitals Sussex does NOT:
- Request payment at any stage of the recruitment process.
- Guarantee employment without a formal interview and recruitment process.
- Approach or recruit individuals who have not submitted an application for a specific vacancy. University Hospitals Sussex only contacts candidates who have formally applied for a role through our approved recruitment processes.
- Send official job offers from free email services such as Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, or Outlook.com.
- Contact candidates via WhatsApp or social media platforms.
This recent incident has been reported to relevant authorities. To verify the authenticity of a vacancy or job offer:
- Check that vacancies are advertised through University Hospitals Sussex’s official recruitment channel on our website.
- Verify that communications originate from legitimate NHS email addresses.
- Be cautious of requests for payment, personal banking details, or copies of sensitive documents.
