Today, on ‘Red 4 Research‘ day, we are proudly celebrating the power of research and the people who make it possible.
We’re shining a spotlight on the incredible achievements of our first cohort of research interns—trailblazers who are taking their first steps into a research career.
This pioneering internship programme, kindly funded by our dedicated charity My University Hospitals Sussex Charity was designed to support nurses, midwives, and allied health professionals in exploring clinical academic pathways.
Over the past year, the interns have developed vital research skills, contributed to ongoing studies, and built confidence to pursue future academic opportunities.
Dr Cate Bell, Programme Lead for Clinical Academic Careers at UHSussex, shared her thoughts on the milestone: “It’s been inspiring to see our first cohort of interns grow in confidence and capability. Supporting early-career researchers is essential to building a thriving research culture. These individuals are not only shaping their own futures—they’re helping shape the future of healthcare.”
