Last year, Mill View Hospital introduced a reverse advent calendar initiative to support patients spending Christmas on our inpatient wards. Thanks to the generosity of staff and supporters, the response was overwhelming, and the items collected were greatly appreciated by those in our care.
We are pleased to announce that the initiative will return this year. Donations will help us create Christmas stockings for patients and provide resources for Occupational Therapy (OT) activities and pampering sessions.
What can you donate?:
- Activities: Board games, packs of cards, Xbox or PlayStation games, sports equipment (e.g., footballs). Items don’t need to be brand new—just in good, usable condition.
- Sensory items: Stress balls, fidget toys, sour sweets. Smelling salts or essential oils are especially appreciated on the women’s ward.
- New clothing: Socks and underwear are always in high demand.
- Self-care products: Nail polish, unused makeup, deodorant, shower gel, face masks, shampoo and conditioner, or unwanted gift sets.
- Festive treats: Biscuits or chocolate (non-alcoholic).
