HIV remains a major health challenge in many parts of the world. Here in the UK, we are in a strong position to achieve zero new HIV transmissions within the next five years, but this goal depends on continued action and awareness.
Key Points You Need to Know:
- HIV stigma still prevents people from accessing essential healthcare.
- People living with HIV should feel safe and supported when discussing their diagnosis, knowing that healthcare professionals are confident and informed.
- All substantive staff have been enrolled in the HIV Confident e-learning module, designed to provide up-to-date knowledge and guidance on caring for people living with HIV in our hospitals.
As part of World AIDS Day 2025, UHSussex is reinforcing its commitment to the HIV Confident Charter Mark. Every substantive member of staff has been enrolled in the HIV Confident e-learning module which is a short, 25-minute course covering the fundamentals of HIV care and support.
Together, we can create an environment where stigma is eliminated, and every patient feels respected and understood.
