Alex Shaw joined UHSussex in August 2026 as Chief Delivery Officer.
Prior to this, Alex worked at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, where he served as Interim Managing Director and previously held the substantive role of Chief Operating Officer.
At UHSussex, Alex is responsible for leading operational performance, improvement and transformation across the Trust, supporting the delivery of safe, effective and high‑quality care for patients across all services and sites.
During his career, Alex has led significant improvements in urgent and emergency care, elective recovery, diagnostics, cancer services and patient flow, as well as overseeing major transformation programmes including electronic patient record implementation, acute hospital reconfiguration and outpatient redesign.
