My entrance to the NHS was within mental health nursing where I worked clinically for 18 years and obtained my first Board experience as Director of Nursing. Since then, I have gained a further 25 years of Board level experience across a range of NHS sectors including acute hospital services. I have spent time in the independent sector and in Regulatory roles, both offering me different perspectives that have proved valuable in my own development.
I have always found the support of the staff within the organisation, the Board, governors, partners, MPs, and key stakeholders is pivotal to success, and I believe that working collaboratively is the only way to achieve sustainable improvement.
I am committed to the NHS and strongly believe that it works to serve those in need of its services, and in support of its staff, to enable them to be the very best they can be. UHSussex has a wonderful opportunity to continue its development and consistently be the service we all would want for our loved ones and the employer we would all want to work for. It is a privilege to be given the opportunity to play a part in that journey.
