I am a Medical Matron at Worthing Hospital. I trained in 1980 and have worked within this Trust my whole career. Within my various nursing roles I have worked at Southlands and Worthing Hospitals both day and night. This has given me an insight into the Trust that few have experienced, showing me how the Trust functions and the dynamics and complexities of those staff that work within it.
I consider that my experience will make me a valuable asset representing staff views at board level where I hope to be able to convey their voice. I hope to be a conduit that ensures that the wider staff views on how our hospital runs are heard. Sharing what I consider to be a true reflection of what goes on at ground level. I am an effective communicator with my door always open. I am known to staff in various roles within the Trust, having worked with many within my role.
I feel this makes me a good candidate to be the voice of our staff at Board level. My aim will be to bring the views of the staff particularly from Worthing and Southlands, to meetings for discussion. I hope as staff governor that I will positively contribute towards the Trusts strategy of ensuring high quality care is delivered to our patients.
