After being assessed by the doctors
When the doctors feel that you are well enough to be discharged home with advice, with your current symptoms, any one of the following is possible:
- You may have a pregnancy in the womb which is doing well
- You may be having a miscarriage
- You may have a pregnancy which is outside the womb (ectopic pregnancy)
Like most NHS trusts across the country we offer early pregnancy ultrasound scans in booked appointments in office hours.
The purpose of this scan is to help identify the location of the pregnancy and how it is doing. While you are waiting for your ultrasound, if you have severe pain, are bleeding heavily or unwell, please go to your nearest Emergency Department (A&E) as we cannot rule out an ectopic pregnancy at this time for a further assessment.
