Blood tests for children are by appointment only. This service is only available at St Richard’s and Worthing Hospitals.
If your child requires a numbing cream please ensure it applied according to the instructions and at the time recommended prior to blood test.

Children's blood tests at Worthing Hospital
Children’s blood tests taking place in the Worthing Children’s Centre. These are blood tests for children over the age 1 and under the age of 14.
For children under 1, please contact Bluefin Ward on 85135. For patients 14+, please use an Adult Blood Test service.
If you require a fasting blood test, please book before 0900. The patient must not eat or drink anything for 12 hours before the test. A small amount of water is allowed during this time to keep the patient hydrated. Prior to the test the patient should have eaten their normal diet for at least three days.

Children’s blood tests taking place in Paediatric Outpatient Department, Ground Floor, West Wing. These are blood tests for children over the age 1 and under the age of 14.
For children under 1, please contact CAU on 32594. For patients 14+, please use an Adult Blood Test service.
If you require a fasting blood test, please book before 9.00am. The patient must not eat or drink anything for 12 hours before the test. A small amount of water is allowed during this time to keep the patient hydrated. Prior to the test the patient should have eaten their normal diet for at least three days.
