Accommodation office contact details
St Richard's Chichester office
The Chichester office is located in the grounds of St Richard’s Hospital, and can deal with enquiries about both our sites. The Accommodation Office is the bungalow between the two blocks of residences.

Arrival and vacating (keys)
Arrival: Please collect the keys from the main reception in the hospital.
On vacating: Please return the main reception in the hospital by 10.00am on the day you vacate.
Alcohol consumption
It is not allowed to consume alcohol anywhere in the accommodation blocks, except
from the students’ individual bedrooms when they are on their own. No alcohol consumption is allowed anywhere in the accommodation during the group gatherings.
Bed linen
If you require a fresh set of linen please leave the dirty linen outside your bedroom door in the clear bag provided, before 10am on a Tuesday morning and a clean set will be left outside your room for you. Please note that this will only be done on a Tuesday.
Cleaning
Communal areas are cleaned daily. There is a vacuum cleaner provided in the marked utility cupboard/kitchen on your floor for your use. The vacuum cleaner must be returned immediately after each use. There is also a sink plunger and dustpan and brush in each kitchen under the kitchen sink.
Additional information
Please do not use the mirror above the vanity sink in your room to dye your hair. The dye stains the vanity unit and sink and if dripped on the carpet, stains as well.
Safety/fire precautions
Please familiarise yourself with the fire evacuation procedure in your room and
the location of fire fighting equipment and fire exits within the building. The following items Are NOT permitted in bedrooms: cooking rings, toasters, oil and spirit heaters, candles etc. these are considered fire hazards.
A fire alarm test is carried out every Thursday.
All hallways and stairs must be kept clear of obstructions.
Smoking and vaping is banned within all buildings, grounds and cars at St Richards Hospital. This includes all accommodation.
Please do not remove or replace the supplied curtains as they are fire retardant.
All personal electrical equipment must be approved with electrical standards and be PAT tested. This can be arranged by calling extension 83999. Plug socket extension leads are not permitted as they pose a fire risk. Plugs must not be removed from hospital equipment.
Insurance
Residents are advised to take out their own insurance for personal possessions.
University Hospital Sussex NHS Trust will not accept responsibility for loss or damage to tenants property.
Kitchen allocation information for students staying in block A28-53
If you are a student and are staying in block 28-53 your kitchen allocation is as follows:
- Rooms 28-31 Kitchen A
- Rooms 32-35 Kitchen B
- Rooms 36-39 Kitchen C
- Rooms 40-44 Kitchen D
- Rooms 45-48 Kitchen E
- Rooms 49-53 Kitchen F
All student kitchens in block 28-53, Goldsmith Centre & House 2 will also be equipped with crockery, cutlery, kitchen utensils, pots, pans and oven trays.
Laundry
There is an on site launderette in Aberdare Close with cash operated washing and drying machines. The laundry is situated through the side entrance of Block 28-53 and is open from 08:00 am -11:00 pm.
Maintenance issues
Any maintenance issues can be reported through the accommodation office or online via our report a fault form.
When the office is closed the information about faults can be posted through the accommodation office letter box.

Meals
Please see student Induction pack for catering information.
Cooking facilities are available for residents in Aberdare Close, please ensure when you use these facilities that you clear up any mess made. The fridge/freezer is for use of all residents allocated to the relevant kitchen.

Parties/group gatherings
No parties/group gatherings with loud music and alcohol consumption are allowed in the hospital accommodation. Blocks 28-53 and 55-80 are situated on the hospital grounds, a close distance from the main hospital building and other residential blocks. Such events might cause disturbance to other staff members, visitors and members of the public.
Any breach will be reported to the Medical School and disciplinary actions might be taken against individuals.
Personal electrical equipment
All personal electrical equipment must be approved with electrical standards and be PAT tested. This can be arranged by calling extension 83999.
Plug socket extension leads are not permitted as they pose a fire risk.
Owners must supply their own plugs. Plugs must not be removed from hospital equipment.
The following items Are NOT permitted in bedrooms: cooking rings, toasters, oil and spirit heaters, candles and incense burners, plug socket extension leads etc. These are considered fire hazards.
Pets
Pets are not permitted to reside in any room under any circumstances.
Postal services
Mail is delivered to your flat or room letter box on the ground floor of your
accommodation block. There is a Royal Mail post box in the hospital main entrance near reception, the collection times are Monday to Friday 4.45pm and Saturdays 12.00pm

Recycling
Please do not dispose of plastic bags, broken glass or crockery in the recycling bins.
A full list of acceptable recyclable items can be found on the front of these bins and also on the recycling bag in the kitchen. Please adhere to this as residents will be charged if the council have to arrange a special collection due to unacceptable items placed in with the recycling.

Televisions/TV licence
If you have your own television you must have your own television licence or you can be fined by the television licensing authority. You are required to have a valid TV licence if you watch TV live on any channel , pay TV or streaming service.
Satellite dishes are not permitted to be attached to the outside walls of this complex. They must be free standing.
Wi-Fi/internet
The hospital does supply an open network Wi-Fi network which you can connect to. You do not need a password: NHS Wi-Fi.
You are not permitted to install your own broadband or WiFi.
