Mr Goldie Khera is an experienced general, laparoscopic, emergency and Bariatric benign Upper GI Consultant Surgeon at UHS (University Hospital Sussex) Brighton since 2012. Goldie graduated from his medical degree from University of Liverpool obtaining his MBChB in 1998 and intercalated BSc (Hons) in Physiology in 1995 researching molecular pain producing substances. Subsequently obtaining his higher surgical degrees MRCS in 2002 and FRCS (Gen Surg) in 2010.
As a consultant surgeon Goldie specialises in laparoscopic gall bladder, single or multiple complex recurrent hernias, emergency general surgery including emergency bowel cancer surgery and trauma surgery. He performs most general surgeries laparoscopically and is part of the UHS Brighton emergency surgical CEPOD operating team rota. From a senior surgical management role, Goldie is current Chair of the Lewes Victoria Hospital (LVH) Theatre User Group as well as Surgical lead at Spire Montefiore Hospital Medical Advisory Committee (MAC).
Mr Khera has a keen interest in surgical training and education. He has numerous publications and has presented his clinically award winning projects regularly at national and international meetings. He has two decades of experience designing and leading novel surgical, training and assessment courses. Goldie is also a regular plenary speaker for surgical training, surgical careers and resilience in surgery both nationally and internationally. He was previously the Brighton UHS General Surgery representative for Higher Surgical trainees at Kent, Surrey and Sussex (KSS) Deanery for over 5 years at ARCP. He regularly interviews prospective medical students for entry into Brighton and Sussex Medical school (BSMS) as well as nationally for Core and Higher Surgical Training surgeons.

- MSC (Medical schools Council) AKT (Applied Knowledge Test) standard setting panel and board membership, which oversees the GMC MLA (General Medical Council Medical Licence Assessment). Current.
Goldie is also undergraduate Surgical module lead and Deputy director of Assessment and Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at BSMS and also Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London Medical school.
Goldie is married, enjoys interior design and DIY and loves gardening with his daughter – growing some fruit, vegetables and herbs. He enjoys the great outdoors especially cycling, canoeing, horse riding, skiing and walking with his family cockapoo! His hobbies also include amateur astronomy and astrophysics. Goldie was shortlisted for astronaut interview in Hamburg, Germany by the European Space Agency (ESA) in July 2008.
