A new coffee shop and restaurant opens for staff and visitors to St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester today, with a special offer for the first 100 customers.
Specialising in artisan pastas, homemade sauces, and Italian style pizzas, Peabodys won a five-year contract earlier this year to run the restaurants at both Worthing and St Richard’s hospitals.

They will offer a free pastry if you’re among the first to buy a hot drink in their new facility, located off the first-floor corridor in the north wing (coloured pink on the maps).
The new restaurants include coffee shops serving hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, salads and sweet treats in a grab and go style, as well as Peabody’s signature ‘Red Basil’ hot food counter offering freshly made pasta, home-made pizza, hearty soups, and wholesome stews.
Open until 8pm on weekdays and 6pm at weekends, they plan to introduce a Click and Collect service to help staff avoid queuing at busy times.
Peabodys has a long history of meeting the needs of NHS staff and visitors, having first started serving coffee and freshly prepared food in London hospitals nearly 30 years ago.
Last year, the company opened their first outlet with University Hospitals Sussex in the main atrium of the new Louisa Martindale Building at Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton – which has proved very popular with visitors and staff.
A second, larger Peabodys ‘Red Basil’ restaurant is planned for Level 6 later this year, once approval from the Building Safety Regulator has been received.
The refurbishment of the restaurants in Worthing and Chichester also includes the creation of dedicated staff only areas that will be accessible 24 hours a day.
