A new wellbeing space for colleagues has officially opened at St Richard’s Hospital, providing a serene and calming space away from the busy hospital environment.
Sean Kedzia, Hospital Director said: “I’m really pleased we have been able to open this dedicated rest area for all staff working across the hospital.”
“Day in and day out, our colleagues go above and beyond for patients. They deserve moments to step back, rest, and give themselves the same compassion they give to others.”
“It is somewhere to take a break away from any stresses of work, read a book, or have a cup of tea with a colleague.”
This project is the third wellbeing space that has opened across the Trust, kindly funded by our dedicated charity My University Hospitals Sussex Charity and working in collaboration with the Health and Wellbeing team.
Situated just past the main entrance to the hospital, the space offers comfortable sofas and enticing refreshments allowing individuals to step out of their clinical environment to unwind, recharge and refresh in the aptly named ‘Staff Oasis.’
Additionally, for colleagues who have recently come back to work from maternity leave there is an infant feeding and expressing space available.
Staff can look forward to different activities held at the dedicated area, such as massages and arts & crafts, which will be advertised on the Staff Hub.
Wellbeing spaces like the Staff Oasis have already opened at Princess Royal and Royal Sussex County hospitals which have been well attended by colleagues who have expressed the positive impact it has had on their mental and physical health.
We’re looking forward to opening a space at Worthing Hospital soon for more colleagues to enjoy.
