The children’s Rheumatology service at St Richard’s Hospital is for children under the age of 18 years old with auto-inflammatory muscle, joint and eye disease such as:
- lupus
- juvenile idiopathic arthritis
- uveitis (an eye condition)
- sarcoidosis
- juvenile dermatomyositis (a disease that causes muscle weakness and skin rashes).
How we help
We assess children and young people under 18 years old with suspected autoinflammatory joint and muscle disease.
This is a multidisciplinary service which means we work closely with our colleagues including those in ophthalmology, physiotherapy, nursing and other allied health colleagues to provide integrated care.
We can provide any necessary treatments including steroid joint injections or medication infusions.
Where we are
The clinics are held in the Women and Children’s block on the ground floor in paediatric outpatients at St Richard’s Hospital.
