This service is available at The Alex children’s hospital only.
How we help
We see children and young people with a range of skin conditions at outpatient clinics at The Alex on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. We also support children who are admitted to the ward with skin problems.
We diagnose and treat everything from skin problems caused by genetic conditions to severe eczema and psoriasis.
We run a monthly joint clinic with paediatric allergy/ respiratory and dietetics for children with combined allergy, eczema and asthma. There’s also a monthly severe eczema clinic.
We work closely with paediatricians and other multidisciplinary team members of all specialities.
We do minor operative procedures in the outpatients department under local anaesthetic. Children requiring more invasive procedures are referred to the plastic surgeons at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead.
We also have close links with St Thomas’ Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.
The service is led by Dr Jess Felton who has many years of dermatology experience and specialist training in paediatric dermatology and supported by Dr Aguilar-Duran and a team of dermatology registrars.
Where we are
We’re based on Level 5C at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital (The Alex) in Brighton.
