The Sussex Trauma Network’s clinical governance framework is a system-wide structure and approach for clinical governance of the management of patients with major trauma in the across the network. A copy of the framework document can be viewed or downloaded.
The framework is used to maintain oversight of any network incidents, identify where patterns may be occurring and where improvements in the network pathways are required.
The intention is not to replace already existing governance systems within trusts, but to assist in understanding and addressing network-specific issues.
Part of the framework is the Incident Report Form – where staff within the network can highlight potential concerns for investigation and review. All clinical incidents occurring within an NHS organisation must also be reported via that organisation’s incident reporting system.
