The NHS long term workforce plan emphasises the need to expand the pharmacy workforce to address the expected shortfall of NHS staff by 2036/37. To grow the workforce, we need to educate future generations of the career opportunities available in pharmacy.
Within Sussex there are more than 500 educational institutes including schools, colleges and universities. The ambition is to promote pharmacy as a career in all institutions across Sussex.
Promoting pharmacy through a careers network leads to a stronger, more connected pharmacy workforce, benefiting educational institutions, employers, and students alike. It fosters professional development and contributes to better public health outcomes.
How to get involved?
There are two main ways to get involved in volunteering for careers events in Sussex.
We ask all volunteers to check with their line manager before agreeing to support an event to ensure there is capacity for you to attend.
This is a voluntary role meaning there will be no payment for your time either to yourself or your employer.
Most of the activities will take place during school hours (9:00-15:30), although there are some opportunities during the early evenings or weekends.
