Healthy Pregnancy Programme
The Healthy Pregnancy Programme runs friendly and supportive group sessions at the Royal Sussex County and Princess Royal hospitals. The sessions are led by community midwives, to help pregnant women and people optimise their health and wellbeing.
This enhanced care is offered to those starting their pregnancies with a BMI over 30. You will be offered a referral when you book your pregnancy with your community midwife, and then receive an appointment for around 14 weeks of pregnancy.
At the first session we provide specialist clinical advice on the nutritional needs of pregnancy, diet and safe physical activity. This helps women and babies grow and develop well together; giving the best chance of a smooth pregnancy.
Our weekly social sessions also give information on a variety of different lifestyle and health topics relevant to pregnancy such as breastfeeding, meal planning and hospital bags. If you attend the groups you will also have the opportunity to socialise and share your pregnancy journey with others.

Each week at 11am we will cover a different topic. You can come along to as many as you like, no need to book – just turn up. You will always be welcome!
